Cupcake keyrings

I've made two new cupcake keyrings today.

The cupcake without the keyring and ribbons is 6x6cm

and a pink one for girly girls :)

Always time for cupcakes!

I was in a cupcake them swap and had difficulty finding cupcake items. The cupcake rage is not yet known here in The Netherlands. There is but a very few places that I can find anything cupcake. What a sadness because I'm a cupcake freak and the cupcake frenzy is common in America, South Africa and Australia. At least. So I made my own cupcake keyring/bag accesory from felt. I took a photo and posted the sweet cupcake parcel just to discover my camera didn't have a card in when I took the pick grrrrrr. I decided to make 5 cupcake keyrings because it was so much fun and took my photo making SURE I had the card inserted. The cupcake without the ribbon and keyring is 6cm x 6cm

felted tulips from Amsterdam

My husband's grandmother passed away just before we went on holiday to South Africa, in October. I wanted to send flowers to his aunts and nieces but couldn't find nice online bouquets and especially for the prices, flowers seemed to be so temporary. I don't know how but I came across the idea to look for felted flowers. I just love their texture and they appearance had enough weight to convey what I feel without using words. I couldn't find flowers though especially because I had just 3 days. Etsy had a couple of beautiful ones but the delivery time was just too long or they weren't white, which I wanted. I've decided to make some myself and found a webshop (Het kleine atelier) with three white tulips. There is enough material enclosed to make 5 tulips. The technique used is dry and wet(white part) felting. I attached three circle labels made with my scrapbooking stock and attached it with an off-white satin ribbon. I wrote on the labels a small poem I came up with, our condolences and names. Though I really didn't have enough time it turned out well.

Felt apples

I like personalised gifts, as always, and made two apples for two sisters. Each little girl had her own apple to hang in her room ;-)

I made this.of course. at night and just drafted something and tried it out. The apples are stuffed and the names were added afterwards.

Making a bean bag animal

A friend has a new born baby girl and I was looking for something to make the elder brother feel special after being the only child for 6 years. As he LOVES dino's my thoughts were directed in this direction.
I thought of crocething one but didn't find a pattern that fancied me, though there are a couple to be found on the internet.

I picked up that he found a swimming dino at a "boot sale" and that was quite a catch, so decided to make him one. I first had to polish up on my dino knowledge as I knew how the swimming ones look like but the name..... so found the one he had on internet: Elasmosaurus.
I drew a pattern and then went in search of dino fabric in my stash. As I have 2 girls it was quite a search. At last I found green and purple checked fab so hope it is boyish and dinoish enough.

As I was cutting the Elasmo I thought it would be nice to stuff it with beans. That would be a little bit less soft for a boy ;-) and more fun.

I've never made a bean animal before so I have no idea what beans to use, does it make a difference. Well, I've found some bean tutorials on may search

As we were seriously moving this month and shuttling between two houses while packing and getting the new house in order, I wondered what I'd do.

Well,I took the drawings again of the girls and decided to make door hangers for them.

I've started with DearDaughter 5yrs drawing
the princesses she draws are all over the house: boxes, little cards, books, used envelopes, etc. and it is typical as she likes to dress up and become a princess when she's a grown-up. This pic she drew last week. I found it on my desk. It is the new house. Her room is top right. I guess she is watching from it and me and her sister are below.

tried and copy her drawing exactly(ball hands and pointy shoes the works!) apart from the embellishments.

Dee diddy dum

I've been itching now for a long time to do this; felting. I've crocheted this diddy bag with pure wool I've won here with a Green bag swap. The bag was 31x31cm. I've agitated it by washing it on 30 degrees in the washing machine. It shrunk only 2cm in the width and nothing in the length.

So then I washed it at 50 degrees and the end result was a good and solid felted diddy bag:
26cmx28cm.

...then don't run with the wild ponies!

I've made 2 fillies for a Christmas order from a crafty mama(see her blog here as she makes awesome bears and jewelry)

The 2 ponies have each 2 different sides. I've had some fun with ribbon, buttons, press-ons,felt,fake fur and safety eyes. The ponies are blanket stitched around and then I've crocheted mane and given them awesome 2 coloured tails ;-) To see the other sides please visit my Flickr Album
I can show you the ponies because I just had a private message that they've arrived safely and in time for Christmas, woo-hoo! The four sides have all a press on felt flower so you can play with the ponies' flowered butts changing them as you wish.

Too late or too early

I've at last sent my Dutch friend, named like me, her birthday gift (visit her beautiful site here). Her birthday was in April...
I wanted to give her something made and eventually made her a set of pot holders. I've crocheted it with orange/red mix (pity that the photo doesn't show it that well as it looks like fun) and red. I've added a cute ladybird and a dotted satin button (she likes the bugs, by the way I'm a huge fan too) and she had the option to choose between these colours and blue/lime.

She has a darling large black dog called Blacky and I've made this door knob hanger with his name around this dog's colour. (though some people thought this was a cat). I've embroidered the mouth with gold yarn and blanket stitched around with cherise metallic yarn (yes I'm not telling stories here it is just a bad photo). I've added on both sides studded flowers, bug buttons and beads. The string he is hanging on is a dotted ribbon from Farbenmix and Sun catcher safety eyes.

Felted Fun

Then I can share with you a swap I've had from Eccles. Do yourself a favour and visit her blog as she make the most gorgeous creations and is raising baby lovebirds. The theme of the swap was: "we don't have that here". After she forgot it in the back of her car and didn't send it for almost 2 months ;-) I got it and in my 2 seasons too late or 2 seasons too early Spring Clean, I mislaid it as I've totally reorganised my hobby room....
