Crocheted Brooch

I've bought myself a very nice dress in the sale at Didi's. Just my style but it needed a little bit more color so I made a broche the evening before we went to visit family (and me of course in my new dress)

• I've crocheted a double flower from a Dutch Crochet book: Marie Claire idees 250 Haakwerksteken. The yarn was an Alpaca mix
• Gathered a brown piece of lace I've had in my stash
• Cut circle with pinking sheers from fabric I'm making a skirt from. A light weight corduroy in purple with hints of Cherise and white (photo's as soon as it is finished)
• used a brown wooden button
• used a piece of a creme wool mix. I've used it to knit the top part for a cushion in my sitting room (photo as soon as it is finished)
• used a piece of Cherise zpagetti I've used in the zpagetti pouffe and handbag I've crocheted.
• a brooch pin I got from a broken brooch

And ta-da a very nice arty broche to go with my dress!

Went this morning to a b-day party of the 4 year old,

only allowed if my 2 year old brought me allong.

Of course I made the necklace just before I went:

I have been wanting to wrap something with fabric scraps for years now. Originally I wanted to wrap the frame of a lamp shade so I still have that one on my list to do. As my 10 year old had a party coming up I swatted the two flies in one go. My husband sawed some thin branches into 20cm parts. I had some wire left which I used for making jewelry so I bended some roots, wrapped the wire around the "tree trunk" and made some Baobab type of branches at the top. I was wondering how I should made the branches and then finally ended it in little creative curls. I wrapped the tree with scraps of fabric and for the girls at the party I had a heap of torn fabric and did the "wiring" beforehand for them. During Christmas I picked up a piece of jewelry from one of my daughters and clipped it onto the little branch. Well, that gave me an idea and asked the owner to bring me some more! So the little scrap Baobab ended up being an artistic Christmas tree:

Hello Kitty

Had to quickly come up with a b-day gift for a 9 year old and as Hello Kitty is still very "in" I made a necklace:

I've placed it in a special birthday gift can with a fake bottom and then added a bunch of marshmallows. So When the b-day girl had to open the can (with a real can top!) she discovered only marshmallows so she handed them out and much to her surprise found the necklace in a cute green chiffon jewelry bag!

I like surprises, don't you?

so while I was at it I made my youngest 1.5yo her first

"mommy made" necklace and she loves it!

Hello Kitty key chain

I made a key chain with a Hello Kitty theme. I've had left over beads from my 9 year old's party. We've made hello kitty necklaces and I just ENJOYED buying the beads for the party. The beads are of good quality even though they're plastic (safer for kiddies). So when I when dd9 had a party coming up for a friend a made a key chain as part of the gift set. I bought the beads here (please don't look, it is too gorgeous, like beingin a candy store)

Mokume Gane

After a loooong time (I've had a jewelry abstinence it seemed) I wanted to make something to wear for a b-day party of an aunt. Decided to make something bold. I've made the beads with clay at a workshop two years ago and they actually could be varnished which I didn't do.It is made with the Mokume gane technique (marble effect with gold, my photo is not that good) and you can read more here and here you can see a movie tute of the lady where I had the workshop.
The pendant is 5cm and the beads are 2.5cm

I then came to the conclusion I wasn't going to wear blue but hot pink.... well I decided (as it was one hour before party and not dressed yet....)to wear this onebut made a "key chain" to click on, and click off as I fancy

I clicked it onto the large (reaching to my belly button) necklace I made for christmas(see blog). The "black beads" actually have a reddish glow and the beads are red and cherise coloured.

Perfect and in time!

Christmas Jewelry

On Christmas day I "couldn't find" a necklace to fit my top so I made one.

The crocheted beads I've made last year and was waiting for a reason to use them.

I've collected the girls' wooden beads all over the house over time... and crocheted balls over them with Cherise shiny cotton.I have used 8 crocheted beads in total.

This is a large piece reaching 95cm. I've crocheted the beads together using fake fur yarn and some of my prize 100%wool. I've used silver metal beads, Cherise/pink/Salmon glass beads and black wooden beads using a 3mm hook.

I was quite pleased with how it turned out, just as arty and a bit over the top as I wanted.
