Textile painted application

After months and months of not being really creative apart from a couple of scrap cards and mini albums I've gotten into gear again.
I've painted a couple of  images with textile paint for a mini fair I went to. One got sold, I guess it is a bit too much for the people that visited. Anyway I thought it is time to sew one of them on a T-shirt. The trend this Summer is still prints with animals and dark blue (the only color I have hope for this Summer as I look hideous in the other trend colours: grass green, apricot and yellow!).

If the T-shirt wears out I can just cut out the dog and sew it onto something else. Over the years I've been so impressed with the quality of the textile paint. I've been washing and even tumble dried (evil! Not supposed to!) some textile painted items and they survive beautifully.

The first time I saw the French Bull dog is when I came to the NL. I thought it was the most ugliest dog I've ever seen. My husband (boy friend at that time) wanted one.. Ughhh! People do change I tell you, now I'm the one that wants a French BD and my husband is the one rolling his eyes. LoL

Textile Painted Face

On a lazy Sunday afternoon I got my textile paint out again and painted two faces. The one I've sewn on a white jacket I got from a friend for my teen daughter. I guess if you click on the photo's you can study the details ;)

Zpagetti

I've ordered the goodies on Friday night at a Ladies'night discount at marutska.nl

and it arrived Tuesday evening at 15 pas 6 when I gave up all hope of it arriving yesterday (they don't deliver on Monday). Great service as always by marutska.nl

As you can see I've bought the 12mm crochet hook and this morning watching Teletubbies and started crocheting a poef (pouffe in French and in English it would be a ottoman without the legs/frame I guess).

From the chocolate brown Zpagetti I already used one and a half as seen in the pic. I've bought four in total. It would be nice for the kids to sit on but I guess the little maltese will be the underdog that will surely in this case claim her right to the pouffe as well!

I'm also making progress with the wool/angora mix I'm knitting for a pillow cover for the sitting room.

1. I have to make a better bedding for our maltese called Zizi. **DONE**

6. Make 2 gifts for two little girls - want to try out the keychains I saw at Vlijtig blog. I have the iron transfer paper for some time now and the clipart I'm drawing/doodling so that would make and awesome combo with my farbenmix ribbon I can't wait to use! ***DONE***

fabric scrap tree

I have been wanting to wrap something with fabric scraps for years now. Originally I wanted to wrap the frame of a lamp shade so I still have that one on my list to do. As my 10 year old had a party coming up I swatted the two flies in one go. My husband sawed some thin branches into 20cm parts. I had some wire left which I used for making jewelry so I bended some roots, wrapped the wire around the "tree trunk" and made some Baobab type of branches at the top. I was wondering how I should made the branches and then finally ended it in little creative curls. I wrapped the tree with scraps of fabric and for the girls at the party I had a heap of torn fabric and did the "wiring" beforehand for them. During Christmas I picked up a piece of jewelry from one of my daughters and clipped it onto the little branch. Well, that gave me an idea and asked the owner to bring me some more! So the little scrap Baobab ended up being an artistic Christmas tree:

Winter Fun

It was time to make some new paintings for school, Christmas was gone and I had to paint again something with a winter theme. I painted on the two glass panels at the main entrance a little stove, red hot, with a bit of smoke and a sleeping cat on a pillow on the other panel.

Then due to a lack of time a sick kids I painted on both sides of an A3 poster so that I can just tape it to the glass panels of another door.

I painted a red robin as I just love their attitude, very very inquisitive and cocky.

The falling snow was done with a natural spunge

This penguin must be a Jackass penguin from South Africa as all the others live in the Antarctic and are used to cold weather.

No calories garanteed

I'm going to be on a market this coming Saturday....my 2nd in my life. So..of course I started too late and as I'm thriving on deadlines my creativity sky rockets. Pity there's still only 24hrs in a day lol.
I've been painting on 3 table cloths. This one is 175x142cm and a whole bundle of fun. I was thinking wat to paint on it that I can do free hand (saves time). The challenge for June at Crafty Mamas gave me an idea with the theme: Calorie Free sweet treats. Mjammie!

The treats are painted with textile paint onto the table cloth and then heat set in the tumble dryer and just to make sure: ironed on the back (have to iron the cloth anyway). The treats are large: 40x40cm and not shown on the photo is the golden liner I used and they have glitter sprinkles!

I took a quick photo on the coffee table where it was drying (yes wet paint all over the house on tables and chairs). A photo on our picknick table in the garden would've been more picture perfect but you get the idea.

ps. while we were eating my 6yr old was telling the story she was reading and said: "...he murdered the room and they called in the police..." I said:"what??"

Lol she meant he wrecked the room (naughty boy)

drawstring bag

I needed a b-day gift for dd7's friend. As I've already given her with a previous birthday a personalised painting I had to think of somthing else. Something personalised (I like that) and not to intensive to make as I have a time pressure at the moment with a couple of orders and of course wee baby of 1 month.

I let dd draw an animal, paint it with textile paint and then I've made a drawstring bag from it 45cx45cm using orange fabric with white dots. I googled and find this perfect drawstring tutorial made by schetched soul, plain enough for me to follow.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to make it a bit more interesting with applications or reversable or with a quilted backing. This just'll have to do and next time I must start sooner!

Poppies, daisies and corn flowers

A dear internet friend of mine, ordered a bag from me. It is the second time she gives me a theme to paint on a textile bag. The first one was in autumn and this one in The Summer. She said I could take my time and has a lot of patience because it did take some time to get it to her!
she asked me to paint poppies, daisies and corn flowers in a meadow. I wasn't sure if I was able to do that. You see the result and here is the other side:

I've painted it with textile paint (washable) and lined it with gold, black and white on a cotton bag.
It was a joy to paint because I love the flowers she picked, too ;-)

Baby boy born!

I was flattered when asked to design a announcement card for a baby born by a couple who also asked me to design them a wedding card. I'll post the card some other time.

As a gift a painted the card (to be framed) with textile paint on cotton and embroided to give it a 3d look instead of using my usual liners.

I've finished another order: a textile painted giraffe. Somebody ordered it for the 30th b-day of her friend. I had much fun painting this...needed some colour in my life ;-)

Before sending out the bag it was possible to enter the bag in a competition.
I've sent my swap partner a bag I've sewn with a bag pattern from morsbags. Really really good tutorial for beginner sewers like me. (Morsbags by the way also promote cottons bags and not using plastics as it is terrible for the environment) I've painted the bag and the zebra with textile paint and used the dots I wanted too. I think I'm in a zebra craziness ;-)

Today I got a mail congratulating me that I'm the winner!
In my absolute stupidity I added the green swap link to my favourites but didn't refresh it when I visited so I never saw the part you can vote for a winner! Aaaaah I love voting and Never would've seen who won. I assumed all is done by mailing or will be added later on....

quatro fun order

Michelle (Crafty Mama) asked me to paint her two bags with sea creatures in greens and blues. So I've done that with lot of enjoyment. 2 bags with 4 different scenes. I used a lot of pearl paint to give a nice effect.

Then as I was busy she asked me to add another bag. She's making a quilt with fun animals and a lot of dots I believe (can't wait to see the finished quilt). She asked if I can paint a zebra in lime and purple and add dots. Well, how exciting...I'll used the dotted effect more as I had a lot of fun.

Then...she asked me if I can paint a bag for her mom. Mom loves bluebirds, gulls and bishops. So..I had to look up a bluebird as I've never heard about them. They seem a lot like a red robin to me ;-) apart from the colour of course! I decided to do the blue and the red birds ;-) really enjoyed it and when crazy on the background.

crowns, high heels and grand dresses

We are going to a birthday party in a couple of hours. It is not just any birthday so the gift had to be special too. It is the first birthday of my friend's first child: the most cute little girl!

I wanted to make her something and then got inspired by my dd of 5. She draws the whole time (with glitter gel pens) queens with high heels, long dresses, long hair and crowns. So one of the pics (lying all over the house) caught my eye and I've decided to use it.

I've used cute Japanese fabrics, Dutch Folk prints and very retro dots to sew this little queen. I've added a lot of tags (made one with her name on) and buttons (which I've sewn so that she'd never get it into her mouth) for the fun of it. I've painted the faces with textile paint, using white glitter textile paint and lilac. I've called in my little girl for the honors of drawing the faces herself with textile pen. She decided to draw a princess and 2 cats on the "awake face". Very cute and she's as proud as a peacock! I've stuffed only the head and the body. Will definitely do this again and make it into a pyjama bag. I also have to use my other dd pics to make another version.

I've deliberately sewn the high heels facing the same way as in the original painting ;-) She is 55cm from crown to toe and 29 cm at the widest part of her dress. The only important part I didn't add to the doll was the long hair. Maybe next time!

it seemed like ages

I've posted her the same time as another swap order in Australia and that one did get there quick(the tiger one). At first I didn't hear a word and thought both were gone with the wind but then it seemed that the poor mom was so swallowed up in mom stuff that she just forgot to let me know.

Well, at last the horse got to the intended stable and I got a very nice reaction:

Tigers and Butterflies

This butterfly bag was a lot of fun to make. I tried something different and it worked. My oldest daughter said it looked like a butterfly garden. The friend ordering this bag really loved it...me too...wanted to keep it ;-)

Catty pyjama bag

One of the girls had to go to a birthday party. I wanted to make something for the birthday girl. I stumbled across the plastic bag idea to make a pyjama bag. So the birthday girl can stuff her pyjamas under the kitty's dress, the kitty stays on the girl's bed and so the pyjamas are neat and easy to find when it is bedtime.

I had fun making the kitty and decided to give her two sides: so on the one side she is sleepy and on the other side she's wide awake. I've used the modern dotted fabric and the purple fun fabric (Violet's suprise gift to me) to make the kitty cat. The girls love her and want their own. Chanah wants a puppy so I'm definitely going to make her again with a few adjustments.

Daffodils in Fall

I got an order from a friend to paint her daffodils on her Damask tablecloth. All four corners as well as floating daffodils in the middle. It was quite a job; the Damask was difficult to paint on as the soft hairs on it were offering some resistance when painting so I had to use more paint to soak them before they surrendered. I think I don't want to see daffodils (or yellow for that matter except the sun!) until Spring next year. The result was really impressive though the photo's are a bit disappointing.

This week I really must paint a couple of bags (nearly finished one this morning) and make 3 gifts(of which 2 are loooooong overdue)!

Oh and I made hedgehogs and mushrooms during lunch time with the girls. After they have dried we want to paint them and then I'll show you the photo's. Hang on.

Supprised..myself

Last week I've placed some orders to restock on fabric paint and some VERY cute Japanese fabrics.
This morning started really bad: headache and nausea...ugh migraine on its way.

I took the children too school, walked the dog and fell back into bed. Luckily I could manage to sleep and the alarm clock woke me up:
it is the singing of a blackbird. Wonderful way to wake up.
Anyway I had to run to help at school for an hour and a half, walked the dog and went to another appointment, feeling a bit numb but surely better.

When I came home....aaaaah
two packages were delivered!
Here are the fabric paint, liner, a butterfly stencil and a rubber stamp. I've ordered this from a shop in Belgium. Oooh la laaah, creativity here I come.
